Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comMy crepe myrtle are 2 years old and are growing very well but not flowering very good. There are seeds that want to turn red but they dry out and on some of them a white cotton like thing comes out of the red seed that is drying out. Should I spray entire tree with Miracle Grow, or what should I do?

Is your crepe myrtle a red ‘Dynamite?” I looked at mine this a.m. and the flowers that are currently turning into seeds have a small white flower left behind. If this is what you are seeing, it is normal. I wouldn’t use a spray fertilizer but rather a dry put on the ground spread around the plants. Fertilize in March, May and July using 1 Tablespoon of fertilizer per foot of heigth. Water in well with trickling hose so water will go deep into the roots. After they are well established, fertilize only once a year in Spring.
