Q.How To Care For A Volunteer Sour Cherry Bush?
I have had 2 semi dwarf sour cherry trees in the back yard for many years, and they were volunteers from a tree my father planted 40 years ago. Recently one died from age and hale damage so when the volunteer sprouts came up last spring I left a couple from mowing. Over the summer they turned into 2 foot tall bushes. Should I let them grow as a bush or prune out and leave the strongest shoot?

Cherry trees should be pruned in a vase shape to facilitate sun and air reaching all the branches. Leaving it as a shrub would likely result in shaded areas. So, only keeping the strongest shoot may be the best option. Here are pruning instructions:
