Q.How To Care For A Flowering Bromeliad

I have been given a flowering Bromeliad, I am not a gardener and don’t possess plants at all. How often and where do I water the plant. I live in South Tenerife very hot. Also there is a bud and been advised to take a cutting. again how do you do that. any help would be appreciated thank you.

Once a bromeliad flowers, it slowly dies. However, it usually leaves pups behind, and I see one in your photo. At least it looks like the bloom is coming out of a second plant. You can water them in the little central cups they have. Here is more:
