How To Care For A Chinese Dogwood?

Question

Recently a Chinese Dogwood tree was planted in honor of our mom who passed away three years ago. The first tree planted didn’t make it past the first year because it wasn’t maintained as expected by the cemetery grounds keepers. I want to make sure that we take better care.
