Q.How soon should you remove old slug bait that has turned moldy and furry?

I have baited with some very effective slug bait, and it has become unsightly. Should I remove it, or is it still preventing slugs from eating my plants? (applied about 1 week ago)

I would go ahead and remove it because it is less attractive now to the slugs. You can look for products that say they are moisture resistant. Here is more:
