Q.How should I prune my lilac tree?
It has 3 main branches and is about 10 feet high, 6 feet wide. The lower part of the b ranches are very bare so it looks quite ugly.If I cut it right back will it kill it as I don’t want to lose the privacy it gives me.

Any major pruning of your lilac should be done right after it has finished flowering. Here's an article that will help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/shrubs/lilac/pruning-lilac-bushes-when-to-trim-lilac-bushes.htm
