How many blooms are typical for this plant?

I have had this plant for 8 or 9 years with no blooms. We moved it in the house October 28th before the frost and it had a shoot on it. We have been watching it bloom for 4 days now and the transformation apparently is still not complete. I am in total awe of the beauty of this flower.
