keeping potted roses in their original pots

How long can I keep potted roses in their original pots? I need to find someone to remove a large bush and root system before planting. I just purchased 4 large roses in pots. They are too big for the original planting site. So, I’ll need to find someone who can remove a large dead burning bush with its root system and then prep that area for planting.

Thanks, Karen

Hi Karen. As long as you keep a close eye on the soils moisture in the pots, you could likely wait a month if need be. I would not go beyond that though as the roots tend to spiral around the inside of the pot and get all tangled up within themselves. Then it is hard to get them out of that and grow as they should.
