How late can I plant for green onions?

I’d give them a good 60 days before first frost. The ones we planted too late to eat last season, were ready for us to eat the beginning of this season. When we empty half a container (we have cement for a yard, so we can only garden with containers), we add more seeds up to about Spetember. But, we live in Zone 6b, so our first frost is around Halloween.
