If you can wait until the leaves die back, you can then place them in containers in soil and store them in the containers until fall. This would allow them to continue to store nutrients and prepare for next years blooming. If you dig them up now and store them as you would for over the winter, they will not be able to store enough energy to bloom well next year. Since tulips typically only bloom well for a few years, it would be a shame to lose one year of blooming due to storage so moving them to containers would be your best bet.
