Q.How Do You Harvest Kangaroo Paw Seeds? When Are Where Do You Take Them From The Plant?

Zone Olds, Alberta | SharonLynn added on September 22, 2021 | Answered

I have 4 large Kangaroo Paw plants and would like to try and harvest the seeds but can’t find any information on where to get the seeds off the plant, when and what to do with the seeds such as dry them? store them? I know they are annuals in our part of the world but I have been told it can be done.

There isn't much to this, actually! These will pollinate and set seed with ease. Once the flowers have been pollinated, they will drop off leaving the ovary. This will swell with seeds, and pop open once ripe. These can be sown, as with any other seed.
