Spiders do not eat grass.
They are generally considered a beneficial insect to the garden.
The spiders may be dining on something else, the possible insect causing the holes in the lawn.
Depending on the size of the holes, it could be insects, bees, or earthworms.
Birds can dig in the soil and leaves small holes.
