Q.How Do I Plant Orchid Seeds? How Old Can They Be And Still Be Viable?

Zone Fancy Gap, Virginia | fancygapgal added on July 8, 2023 | Answered

I have orchid seeds for phalaenopsis and the Luna Orchid. I got them on line from China (I know!). I want to know first if I should bother with them – they are 1 year old; and second, how do I plant the seeds? Thank you

Unfortunately, outside of a laboratory, this is not easy. Some would consider it impossible. I, myself, have a lab, and have not attempted this. I do work with the fungi that help them to germinate but have not messed with orchid seeds. This would be the reason that orchids can be very expensive.
