You can start seeds indoors in early spring with hopes of getting flowers by fall but more than likely the soonest you will see blooms is next spring. Seeds can be sown outdoors from spring (after danger of frost) to August. Sow seeds about 1/8 inch deep and keep soil moderately moist during germination. When seedlings are 2 to 3 inches tall thin or transplant them to 8 to 10 inches apart in the garden.
