Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comMy gardenias are not full of leaves and they look terrible. I have been looking for ways to take care of them without it costing me a lot of money, as I am a single mother. I read that if I mix 1 tablespoon of white vinegar and 1 gallon of water together and then pour on the soil around the plant it will act as a fertilizer. Is that true and, if so, how often should I do that?

I would not recommend this practice. While it does acidify the water, too much can hurt the plant. Vinegar is often used as a homemade weed killer as it is very acidic. Instead, stick with an acid-loving fertilizer (appropriate for azaleas and camellias) for your gardenia.
