Q.How do I level my backyard

newyard cat added on June 15, 2012 | Answered

My backyard has some trees that have been cut down to about 3″ stumps but with a lot of roots above ground. I would like to pull up the remaining stumps and roots and lay down some topsoil and roll out some new grass. Our grass is good in some spots and barren in others. Being this is my first time with a yard, is this a good idea to achieve a nice flat yard? Thanks for any tips.

Yes, this should work. I would recommend using a sawzall to help up with the roots. You can plunge the blade into the soil and cut through the tougher roots.
