Q.How do I know when I can take the pods off Yuccas so I can open them and gather the seeds?

My Yucca plants have lots of pods. I would like to try to grow more yuccas but all I find online is that it says when the seed pods are dry, they are ready to collect. How do I know when they’re dry?
