How do I know if my soil is alkaline

I want to plant a flowering crabapple tree. I think my soil is alkaline.

You can determine the kind of soil you have by getting your soil tested.

While many companies or gardening centers offer soil testing kits, you can usually obtain a soil test for free or low cost through your local county extension office.
