I have tried the spray, lime, aerating. I can’t get rid of the stuff.

Well, without solarizing you can try orange oil (half a cup), two cap fulls of peroxide, and one gallon of water, or dry use grocery grade cornmeal and sprinkle every two days till signs appear.
