How Do I Get Rid Of New Oak Tree Suckers Coming Up Under Oak Tree?

I have two oak trees and underneath those trees are new oak tree suckers are coming up all over the place. How do I stop this from happening?

The only way to prevent this is to keep them cut. They can indicate that there is a problem with the tree, as well. Once the tree is in proper health, suckers should remain at a minimum.
