How Do I Fix A Tree That Grew Into A, “Y” (close Crotched)

This tree is a, Fruit Pear & was neglected before I moved into the home. The tree has 2 “strong leaders” that have grown closely together making it look like a, giant “Y”. What’s the best way & time to approach this project⁉️?‍♂️
