Q.How Do I Debug My Outdoor Tropical Hibiscus Tree Before Bringing It Indoors For The Winter?
Last year I just brought my tropical hibiscus tree indoors for the winter to see if it would survive. Not knowing anything about plants, I just brought it inside. A few weeks later I noticed these pesty little Knat Flys all over my house. I didn’t know where they came from, then one day I see them on the flowing hibiscus tree. I bought some knar sticky traps and put them on the soil and after some time, they were gone. How do I prevent that from happening again? It was horrible!

Those pesky fungus gnats can show up at any time indoors, whether or not you brought a plant in from outside. They are atrracted to moist soil, so keeping any houseplants on the dry side helps.
Before you bring any plants in this fall, give them a good blast with the hose. You also can spray them well with an insecticidal soap to get rid of any pests. Some people also use a soil drench product in case of insects lurking in the soil.
