How Do I Control Sread Of Viburnum?

You can see from photos there are all these small shoots sprouting up all over. It seems that the clay does not allow roots to go down, so they spread and send up these shoots. Am i crazy? What can I do?

Unfortunately, your photo did not come through.

They will spread by seed and root, so controlling in some areas can be quite difficult.

You will have to keep them from flowering if you want to control seed spread. You can cut them before they form and this will prevent them from going to seed.

The new basal shoots should be removed each year. This will also help stop the spread.

In short, the answer to your problem will be diligence. Keeping all new instances of the plant before it has time to mature will be the only sure fire way to kill off any new plants without harming the existing shrub.
