How do I care for magnolia tree for winter? Do I prune or wrap the tree with burlap?

This depends on where you live and what variety of magnolia you have. For example, if you have a Southern magnolia, these do well in the winter in gardening zone 7 and warmer, but in colder zones, they need winter protection. This includes wrapping with burlap and placing mulch over the roots.
