Q.How Do Cabbage Heads Form? From Within Or Leaves Folding In?
Hi, I am growing cabbage in my garden. They are forming nicely but I noticed today that a spider has made a home on top of my cabbage head. I’m creeped out! Does the outer leaves fold in to trap it and make it part of my vegetable? Or does the growth come from the inside (where the spider can’t get in). I’m terrified of spiders and the thought of eating one and its web is making we want to give up gardening!

That little guy is protecting your cabbage, which forms from the inside. New growth is from the inside, so you don't have to worry about the spider being inside.
Figs- Well, they are a different story. But your cabbage is fine.
