How Can I Stop ‘Tree Sap’

It is now July. Auto covered in sap daily, but it washes off readily with hot water. Question: Is this normal? How long does it last? Would the tree be unhealthy? It’s a BIG TREE, about 25 foot. Good shade, but bad on auto.
