I am growing a better bush (determinate), and I don’t know how to care for it once fall and winter come in. I live in Laredo, Texas. Our harshest winter weather is usually 25-35 F. Most winters here are short and mild. I was thinking about bringing it into our foyer, but what kind of light would it need? I don’t need to grow tomatoes during winter, but I would like to keep it alive for another growing season.

One way to preserve your summer tomatoes is to bring them inside at the end of summer. You may be able to save the tomato plants over winter for a period. Older plants will gradually stop producing, so you can’t save them forever, but you can extend the harvest. You can, however, grow tomatoes indoors, but they are usually smaller and produce less prolifically than their summer cousins. More information can be found here:
