How and when should I split a potted black bamboo

It’s in a 15 x 15 pot and seems to be pot bound…I need to keep it in a pot so what size and when should I do it? Thanks! Marni

Usually, when you split it, you will put it back into the same container. The rest will be put somewhere else. You will just want to use fresh soil. If this is indoors, then it doesn't matter when you do this. If this is outdoors, then this is best done in Autumn or Winter.
