House plants

I would love to have plants inside my house. But I have 3 cats who will start pulling at the leaves, messing with the soil and will eventually dig up the plant and drag it thru the house. How do I keep my cats away from my plants so they can be safe and I can be happy with beautiful plants inside my house?
