Q.Honey Locust trees

Zone Port Huron, Michigan | Anonymous added on May 31, 2018 | Answered

Had 3 planted last spring, leaves were sparse last year, but I was told that was expected.
This year each tree has a few what appear to be dried, brittle, and dead branches and all have the same in the top 1/4 of the tree.
Do these trees have a chance or should they be replaced? I need some info to intelligently speak with the landscaping company that planted them. There may be a one year warranty.
Any assistance you can give will be appreciated.
Thank You,
Craig D Port Huron, MI

It sound as though the top portions of your trees died off. It can be due to watering issues or damage from the winter, or reasons that can't be explained.

Most reputable garden centers will guarantee a new tree for the first year. I would check your receipts.
