We planted several plants last year. When do they start coming up in the spring? They show no life yet this year.

Patience may be needed here. Warmer temps should help the plants perk up from their winter nap. Pruning may also help, if you haven't already done so. Spring is the ideal time to prune back hibiscus plants, which will help with new growth.
