Hibiscus standard

Is it possible to make a Standard from tropical Hibiscus? I have a ten year standard fuchsia (during the fall/winter I keep it in a frost-free room). I would like to try something new. I live near Buffalo NY, zone 5b. I know I would have to bring the plant in during our cold weather months.

I don’t think tropical hibiscus is a common plant for pruning in the Standard form, but it’s worth a try. Related plants like Rose of Sharon can be pruned in that way, so it might work with tropical hibiscus.

Yes, you can plant several small plants together to form a braided stem Hibiscus.
