Q.Hibiscus Sickness

Anonymous added on January 31, 2012 | Answered

I have two hibiscus plants in pots on my patio. For some reason, the leaves and buds keep falling down. I fertilized the plants and watered them more frequently and it seemed to help a little, but now they are sick. On top of the buds and leaves, there is something sand-like all over. Could you tell me what to do?

It sounds like you have a pest of some kind, possibly thrips or aphids. Either pest is killed by using neem oil or an insecticidal soap. Once the pests are gone, the hibiscus will return to its full health.
