Q.hibiscus shaping

Zone 32955 | krnco2 added on November 25, 2015 | Answered

I have two bushes about 5 to 6 ft high on each side of my front porch steps. One has variegated leaves. I would like to trim them to look more uniform but do not want to hinder bloom growth. I live in FL and temps rarely get below fifty. Can you advise?

Heavy pruning should be done in early spring-- February or March.
Avoid fall and winter for heavy pruning.
Light pruning can be done any time to clean up broken or diseased branches.
