Q.Hibiscus Question

Zone 51031 | milney added on July 15, 2025 | Answered

I put grass clippings around my hibiscus but away from the stem. The clippings are kind of smelly. Will that harm the plant? Should I remove the clippings? I’m trying to retain some moisture. Thanks. Janice

Yes, if they smell bad, then I would remove them. This is a sign of bacteria. I'd remove them immediately and treat with a fungicide to prevent anything from happening:
