Hibiscus Plants

I recently purchased, or should I say rescued, two poor looking hibiscus plants from my local Walmart. I want to put them outside. Do they grow well in sand?

Hibiscus plants need fertile, well-draining soil, preferably with a bit of organic matter (like compost) mixed in. Sand alone is not a suitable growing medium, as it does not supply plant roots with the necessary nutrients in which they need. If you have sandy soil, I would recommend that you amend it to make it more suitable for plants.
