Is it ok to prune a large Hibiscus back to reduce its size before bringing in for winter?

Yes, you can prune a potted Hibiscus in the fall if you will be bringing it indoors. For plants in the ground that will remain outdoors, prune in spring, because pruning in fall will expose the cut tips to potential winter damage.
