Hibiscus Are Not Flowering

Last summer I bought a Hibiscus tree in a pot with a beautiful twisted body. I kept it throughout the winter. It has been out since Memorial Day and is NOT flowering!! Its leaves are beautiful and lush but no flowers. What can I do? Does fertilizing it help? If so, what type do I buy? I live in New York on Long Island.

You may have taken too good of care of your hibiscus. When you keep your hibiscus too well watered and fertilized through the winter, it doesn’t get the dormant rest it needs and that throws off its bloom period.
