It was flowering well outside. When temps started to lower, brought inside and new buds began to fall off before opening.

Here is an article that explains why bud drop happens. In your case, given the timing of the issue with bringing it indoors, the reason would be environmental (excessive change of temperature or not enough light, too little humidity or dry soil):
