Q.Hi We Have A Tree In Yard That Is Very Bad Shape And Would Like Some Advice.

Zone Northeastern | JTCanuck added on May 23, 2020 | Answered

I understand that tree dressings are not recommended, however this is a bit of an extreme case. The tree was damaged in an ice storm and has survived for about 10 years at approximately 25% of it’s original size, with a great deal of damage to half of the lower portion. The best thing to do is probably just to cut it down but if there is any other option, I would prefer to give it a try. Anything I can do? Thanks, John

That tree is riddled with disease and insect pests of all types! Saving that tree will cost a fortune, and it likely won't help much.

I recommend cutting that one down before it falls apart on its own.
