Herbs, Basil, Cilantro, Parsley

Is it best to plant herbs in pots due to the fact that some plants tend to grow and take over everything else in the garden?

Only a few herbs are invasive and these would be mint and lemon balm. The rest are well behaved. But you can grow them in pots or in the ground, whichever is more convenient for you. They do well in either place.

Nikki is correct but keep in mind that once cilantro flowers it can and will reseed itself unless you pinch off the flowers.
