Help with my plant broke in the middle

My potted plant fell and broke in half. I have attached it using tape. Do you think it can grow back, or should I put the upper half in soil and see if it will grow? I don’t know which plant it is.

Can you include a photo? Some plants can propagate this way, but others can’t, so it is important to know what plant it is. I will be glad to help if you can provide a photo.
