indoor rubber tree plant

I have a 4 ft indoor rubber tree plant which has lost its leaves at the bottom during winter and now that it’s summer it has been growing rapidly. So I snipped the top off and re-potted it and now it seems like it’s not growing at all. I read somewhere that to promote new leaves I should cut a slit in the node, which I’ve done but nothing has happened. There are tears on leaves too and leaves are curling. What does this mean? I have a very unhealthy looking tree. Please help. Thank you in advance.

It’s possible that to much of the plant was pruned away to sustain the plant.
Though they are quite tolerant of pruning, if the plant was all ready stressed or failing, it may have been to much for the plant.
You could try taking some cuttings and starting new plants. This may be a way to save the plant.
