Q.heirloom petunias
why do my heirloom petunias come back. I thought they were perennials. They have come back before.

I think you thought they were annuals, as these will not come back. Almost all petunias are perennial, meaning that they will come back each year, if you are in the right environment. Many people, simply, grow them as annuals if they are outside of their climate zone. This give the false impression to many, that they are annuals.
You must fall within their native climate, as they have come back. You will have to watch for crowding later on, as along with the originals, they will also drop seed. You may have to thin the herd after a few years.
