Hazelnut tree

I was clearing out voluntary trees and accidentally cut down a hazelnut tree. The trunk was about 2″ in diameter. Is there anyway for it to re-establish? I stuck it back in the ground and watered it… Looking for a miracle!

There are a few trees that can re-root in this situation, but I’m afraid a hazelnut won’t likely survive. You could try to take a cutting from the still-living twigs- this can be difficult, but the twig may grow roots and survive if treated well.
