Q.Have 6 Italian Cypress Trees
I was told I have spider mites in my trees, these 2 guys from a tree farm sprayed them with this expensive chemical as they say about 10 days ago, came back yesterday, said their looking good, didnt need to treat again. Paid $550 for this, they were here about 20 Mins. Now they says the trees should be cut back from the top down for new growth to start. They said the stuff they used was very expensive, of course they only used a ladder to spray. So now with trimming back they want more $$.I feel I was taken with this.I need your help please.

The best time to trim Italian cypress trees is in spring, so you could wait till then and see how they look. They really only need trimming to remove dead or damaged branches or to achieve a certain shape. And you may want to get an estimate from another trimmer. The only reason you might want to trim now is if the spider mites did a lot a damage and the trees are unsightly. I still would get another estimate for trimming, if needed.
