Harvesting Sugar Squash

Question

I am new to growing squash and have grown the Small Sugar squash but I am not sure when to harvest them. Can you please help in any way?

This is a winter squash. You normally leave these on the vine until the end of the season. But, if you need or want to harvest it earlier, the whole squash should be its ripe color and should feel heavy for its size.
