Q.Harvesting Buttercup Squash

Anonymous added on September 3, 2011 | Answered

We planted buttercup squash and they produced well, but we don’t know when to harvest them. Do they need to turn orange like a pumpkin, or do you pick them when they are green? Or is there some other feature to look for to assure their proper readiness?

For buttercup squash, you want to look for just about 1/4 of the squash to turn yellow or orange. It will also feel heavy for its size.
