Harmful Chemicals Soaking in Soil

My family owns an acre of land. At the back of our property, there’s a small creek. Twenty or thirty years ago there was a chemical spill, Mirex. My question is, how far away from the creek should I start the garden?

Being so long ago, it is really difficult to know for certain if there’s still a threat or not. Your best best would be to either plant the garden far away from the creek (about 50 ft or better) or install raised beds instead. Here is additional information that may help: [1], [2]
