Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comI transplanted a 5 foot tall camellia in may. I reduced the height by about 20% and it seems to be doing fine. I would like to further reduce it’s height to about half it’s original 5 foot height. Do camellia have dormant buds in the stem like boxwoods? Any suggestions?

It is getting late in the year to be pruning these, or you risk losing some buds for next year! Should you still wish to prune it up a bit more, then I would take no more than 1/3 of the plant at each pruning session.
